Review: Post-Metal DC Trade Paperbacks
The post-Metal DC Universe is a weird and fluid place.  Lots of interesting new takes on classic characters are rolling out.  Lots of chances being taken.  The company continues to look for solid ground as they move forward and here's a look at a few of the titles in this rollout.

THE TERRIFICS VOL. 1:  MEET THE TERRIFICS - For a while, due to movie rights, Marvel retired the Fantastic Four.  Unfortunately for them, the Distinguished Competition rounded up a group of four similarly powered heroes and teamed them up to create The Terrifics.  The team consists Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Phantom Girl and Plastic Man.  The concept is solid and the characters are an interesting mix to be sure.  I really enjoyed this one.  There was some solid team building and good old fashioned comic book action.  The final tease of the return of Tom Strong made it all the better.  This is a good one.  Give it a look.

JUSTICE LEAGUE VOL 1:  THE TOTALITY - Here's what you need to know.  Scott Snyder takes control of the Justice League and he convenes the Legion of Doom to oppose them.  Yup, you read that right.  The Legion of Doom are in the DC Universe.  As the two teams vie for control of the Totality, things are changed.  Snyder is one of the best writers working in comics today and him taking the reigns of DC's flagship team is good news for fans everywhere.  Give it a look.

BATMAN VOL. 7:  THE WEDDING - one of the most hyped events in comics last year was Batman's marriage to Catwoman.  This collection are the stories leading up to that monumental event.  Characters from all over the Bat-Titles make appearances.  The final result, may not be exactly what Bat-fans were hoping for, or maybe it was.  Either way, its a must read for Batman fans.

ACTION COMICS #1000:  THE DELUXE EDITION - Any publication reaching 1000 issues is noteworthy.  That the publication in question is the place where the superhero genre began is nothing short of amazing.  The Deluxe Edition is filled with stories and artwork from a who's who of creators.  To say that you need to read this one is doing is an injustice.  Pick this book up ASAP.  It's your geekly duty.
