I collect a lot of different things across a lot of different fandoms. I like Star Wars and Star Trek, comic books and cartoons, bobbleheads and LEGO. As a result…I have a lot of crap. A truth that became painfully apparent as I was trying to absorb everything I won/bought/traded for at SDCC.
Ever watch ‘Hoarders’ and say ‘There but for the grace of God go I’?
Well, I’m not sure I can say that anymore.
The conclusion, as I stood amongst the storage boxes full of boxes: this shit has got to go.
Last week I was on vacation in Portland, OR (forget keeping it weird, work on clean – at least downtown) and I came up with an idea that is one part housekeeping, one part personal odyssey. I’m calling it ‘The Sale of 100 Things’. An idea I like so much, I even made a graphic. See above.
Pretty simple really, I’m going to try to sell 100 things out of my various collections via FB, Ebay, and maybe even Craigslist. I’ve already put my first things for sale on Ebay, a 1/24 Charlie Brown Freddy Funko, a lot of 3 Funko Dorbz, and five lots of Funko Mystery Minis. Right now I’m trying to figure out if I should count this round as six things, or 22 individual things. If I go individual, I’m going to have to make this the sale of ‘Hundreds’ of things. If I do that, I think I’m going to come away thinking I’m a hoarder and will probably hurt my own feelings.
I’m going to post progress as I go. If you find me in the Funko groups on FB, remember that this is all for sale….no trades at this time. It’s about thinning, not replacing. Who knows, maybe some of you will look this and ask yourself ‘Do I really need 2,000 pieces of Funko?’
I already know that answer, BTW. It begins and ends with ‘No.’
