How was your weekend kids?
Did everyone have a good Father's Day?
Are you getting sucked in the World Cup?
My answers are yes and no.
I just don't get soccer. Never have.
That doesn't mean I didn't get into some pop culture goodness this weekend.
Let's find out what it was.
PARTY WORLD RASSLIN'
- Matt hit the ATX this weekend and we caught the PWR
Floridaslam show. I've seen a lot of wrestling in my time, but I've never...EVER...found myself rooting for a hand puppet or a goat man before. That all ended Saturday night. PWR puts on an entertaining show full of history and lore. The 4th Tap Brewery was packed on Saturday night for a show that delivered nearly start to finish. Their next show, Slamhain, will take place later this year. Give it a peek if you get the chance. HAIL TEEN WORM!
- No it wasn't as good as the original. Yes, it was entertaining as hell. I'm still not sure why it took Disney/Pixar fifteen years to get this movie made, but I'm really glad they did. The further adventures of the Parr family, this time with Elastigirl taking the lead, were a good natured family romp from start to finish.
- Ever since we saw The Disaster Artist
last year, my sons have been bugging me mercilessly to see The Room
. Last week, we caught a Movie Party at the 6th Alamo Drafthouse. There were props, catchphrases and a truly awful movie. In truth, the only thing that made the movie watchable was the interactive crowd. Watching the boys react to this experience was very much like seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show
for the first time. I'm not likely to see The Room
again, but I'm glad I got to see it with my boys. They sure enjoyed the experience and that made it worthwhile.
