Welcome back to Monday kids.
I'm sitting here watching the Rockets blow a lead in the first game of the Western Conference finals. They're down by 9 with 6:37 to go.
It's been another busy week. I've been on a deep dive into the history and music of the glam rock era. We'll get to that at a later date.
For now, let's take a look at some of the other stuff I worked in between the ambi waves of glam.
- IFC has resurrected this gem from the early days of cable. However, instead of the long free form blocks of content, the revived show gives us a pair of 30 minute show in the wee hours of Friday night/Saturday morning. Night Flight
was instrumental in exposing me, as a fledgling geek-ologist, a wide swath of underground media. It rocked my worldview on the regular. I've already shown it to the boys and I think they dug it. I know I am. Now, how do we get Commander USA
back on the air.
JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
- so what happens when the most bankable star in Hollywood says he wants to do a remake of a 1990s Robin Williams flick? You update the concept for the internet generation and flip the script. The Rock's insane natural charisma is on full display in this one. He's joined by Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan who all manage to hold their own against the Great One. Its a fun family action movie. Give it a watch.
- Yesterday, Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks announced a September wrestling show that they were putting together...with their own money. The show sold out a 10,000 seat arena in Chicago in less than an hour. There was only one match announced. I think the members of the Bullet Club may be onto something. Somewhere, Big Dust is smiling down on his youngest son. Watch this space for further news on All In in the coming months.
