It's been a slow week on the consumption side. There was lots of action on the home front that required my attention. Still, there are some things worth mentioning. Let's mention them.
RING OF HONOR
- John has been after me for years to follow ROH. Unfortunately for him, I didn't have ready access to it and, despite the number of DVDs he sent me, I had trouble following the promotion. Sure, I attended their PPV before the last WrestleMania, but I had no idea about storyline or characters. That all changed over the summer when I moved to Austin and ROH became readily available as a late nigh Saturday option. Just like the old days. Yes, the promotion is Bullet Club heavy, but I'm enjoying it. I've gotten my first taste of the rulebreaking Briscoe Brothers. I've seen Cody (Rhodes) reach his true potential. And I've seen the man above, Dalton Castle, claim his first world title with his Jack Black meets Freddie Mercury meets Adrian Street gimmick. It shouldn't work, but it does. The fact that Castle has the skills to back up the gimmick just seals the deal. I'm late to the party, but ROH is recommended.
- I finished the Netflix adventures of Frank Castle last week. Same criticisms as always. The show was three episodes too long. There were several unnecessary subplots. I still think the Punisher is far more interesting as a supporting character, but it wasn't bad. I was kinda skeeved out last Wednesday as I watched the bomber subplot unfold as a real life serial bomber was on the loose in Austin. For die hards.
AGENTS OF SHIELD
- I've got a stack of these piled up on my DVR, so once I finished the Punisher I dove in. Due to time constraints, I only made it through a couple of episodes, but they were mindfucks. I don't know where this is going, but I'm curious to see it. The show is inconsistent, but I've stuck with it this long. I might as well stick it out. Who knows, maybe it will tie into Infinity War
