I can still remember the first time I saw the Houston Astros play live.

My Little League team came to Houston from Lake Charles to see the Astros play the Giants.

As I walked up the concrete tunnel, the Astrodome and, by extension, Major League Baseball opened up before me.

I've been an Astros fan ever since.

JR Richard.  Joe Sambito.  Jose Cruz.  Art Howe.  Bagwell.  Biggio.  Berkman.  Scott.  Ryan.

Hell, even Randy Johnson was an Astro for a little while.

Still, no matter how many stars aligned, the team couldn't get over the hump.  First it was the Mets in 86.  Then the Braves had their number in the 90s.  Albert Pujols and the Cardinal destroyed Brad Lidge's career.

They finally made it to the Series in 2005 only to get swept by the "Don't Stop Believin'" White Sox.

Not this year.

This year they fulfilled their destiny and lifted up the flood ravaged city on their shoulders.

And I couldn't have been happier.

Watching from Austin, I hung on every pitch.

It was a magical Series, maybe the best one ever.  Time will tell.

Still, the Astros are World Series champs and I still can't believe it.

Nicely done boys.  Nicely done.

George Springer was named World Series MVP by putting his name in the record books beside Reggie Jackson.  Jose Altuve is likely to win the AL MVP and Josh Reddick is sporting a speedo and a WWE title belt.

But the Astro with the biggest post-season perk has to be Justin Verlander.  He's going to miss today's victory parade because he's off to Europe to marry his fiancee.

You may have heard of her.  She's back for her second turn as cheesecake.

Please say hello to Kate Upton.

Since her last appearance (in conjunction with the Three Stooges movie (??)), she has become ubiquitous.

Sports Illustrated covers and Hardee's commercials abound.

She's a perennial favorite, something we hope the Astros will be as well.

Let's hit the links.
