13 Days of Halloween - In Pictures

For whatever reason, a friend of mine from college decided to post a selfie a day for a whole year as part of a ‘social experiment’.  I believe it is to see how long before all of un-friend him on Facebook.

For whatever reason, I decided to post a sketch every day that he posts a selfie as part of a big ‘FU’ to his social experiment.  Much to my surprise, I’ve nearly lived up to that promise.  I think I’ve missed maybe 10 days.

But it hasn’t been easy.  Selfies get old very quickly.  There’s only so many times you can see the same picture of a guy in a car, out to dinner after work, sitting at his desk, lying on his couch, walking in a park…before you think about poking your eyes out.  To keep it interesting for me, I’ve added the occasional guest star (William Shatner, Burt Reynolds), created themes (fineartfriday, superherosaturday) or dedicated whole weeks to sketching things that are not my friend such as bunnies and toads.

Or the 13 Days of Halloween.

To avoid drawing the HCB this month, I have spent the past two weeks drawing other stuff, like monsters and zombies.  It’s been the best two weeks of the social experiment.  All of these have appeared up on my Instagram feed (@productofsloth), but I thought it would be fun to put them all together in one place (post).

Enjoy.

Previous sketches from this year long, self-inflicted nightmare can be found using #henrycountybadass.

Day 1 – Creature from the Black Lagoon

This one started as a margin sketch (a sketch in the margins of a meeting agenda) and just kind of took off from there.  It’s also a redraw from what I originally posted to my buddy’s FB feed.

Day 2 – Wolfman

Beware the moors.  Originally he was going to be more dog-like, but then I kept thinking ‘Steve Holt!’ and made it better.

Day 3 – Frankenstein

Look, he tied it all by himself.

Day 4 – The Invisible Man.

For such a simple drawing, it took forever to lay out everything just right, and to pick the right accents.  I like the undies.
