Monday Meandering - 10/2/17
Well, today has sucked hasn't it.

Mass shootings and the possible death of a rock icon.

Welcome to October, I guess.

Here's what I was digging before the madness.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK - with the move this summer, I missed Season Five of Netflix's "women in prison" series.  Due to some fortuitous scheduling last week, I was able to binge the riot season.  This was a good story for the series at this juncture, because it shook up the status quo and gave us a deeper look and some yet unexplored characters.  I'm not sure where things go from here for the Ladies of Lichfield, but I'm certainly curious to find out.

JUST A PILGRIM - Another Comixology unlimited find.  The entire series is collected in one trade.  Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the collection lays out the story of the man we'll call Pilgrim as he tries to make right the many, horrific wrongs he did before the end of the world.  Saying much more would be telling, but the series is written by Garth Ennis, so that should set a tone.  It's a fun, gruesome, quick read in the Ennis manner.  RECOMMENDED!

YOUNG SHELDON - or...Sheldon Cooper - The Wonder Years.  With Jim Parsons doing voiceover work, that is the obvious comparison.  Look, I've watched The Big Bang Theory since day one.  Hell, today marks the eighth anniversary of LinkFrogging and Kaley Cuoco was our first cheesecake.  I'm still not sure we need two shows revolving around Dr. Cooper, but after the first episode last week, I'm willing to give this one a shot.  The casting is pretty solid.  Lori Metcalf's daughter plays a much younger version of her TBBT character.  I'm anxiously awaiting the debut of Annie Potts as the legendary MeeMaw.  I'm cautiously optomistic.
