It was a long, wet weekend here in Texas. Hurricane Harvey kicked the shit out of the Lone Star State and it still isn't through. My family is okay and for that I'm thankful
Let's see what we've got going on.
GAME OF THRONES
- Last night brought us the season finale of the penultimate season of HBO's epic tale of Westeros. If we can put aside the issues with the space/time continuum, this season was a lot of fun. Last night's episode set the table for the final season that comes some time in the next millennium. **SPOILERS**
- thank the Crone that Littlefinger finally got what he deserved. I cheered out loud when Arya slit his throat. I wonder if she will take his face.
- The wife and I continue to work our way through this Netflix offereing. I'm interested from a purely historical point of view. I know Elizabeth and Phillip are still kicking in the regal sense. I'm just enjoying watching the back and forth between the crown and the government. Now that I type that, I think maybe I've got an entertainment type.
JACK KIRBY COLLECTION
- Today is the 100th birthday of comic book pioneer, Jack Kirby. Kirby was responsible for so much of the DNA of this site and thousands of others like it that there is no way we can ever repay that debt. The King co-created the Marvel universe with Stan Lee. He created Darkseid and the New Gods. His iconic art style has touched nearly every corner of popular culture. Don't believe me? Rewatch that Thor: Ragnarok
trailer. Totally Kirby. In honor of Kirby's birthday, the fine folks at Heavy Metal and Threadless have teamed up to release a very cool collection based on his work on the Lord of Light series. CHECK IT ALL OUT HERE!
