Welcome back TV. Oh how I've missed you.

The new television season has arrived and it brought some tasty morsels with it.

Netflix's latest Marvel offering, Luke Cage, dropped in its entirety today.

This is Us and Designated Survivor had strong debuts.

I like Speechless.

But, I think my favorite of the new shows, so far, is The Good Place.

The Kristen Bell/Ted Danson vehicle about the afterlife gave us three episodes on the first week of the season and followed up with a strong fourth episode this week.  It's a pretty heady premise for a half hour sitcom (and I'm using that term lightly).

The afterlife promises everything you want, including your soulmate, all in a well manicured neighborhood overseen by the mysterious Sam...I mean Michael.

The show has already been the subject of a slew of fan theories regarding where the dead are actually residing.

It's also given us this week's cheesecake.

Please say hello to Jameela Jamil.

Ms. Jamil stars on The Good Place as Tahani Al-Jamil (which translates to "Congratulations, beautiful") is the uber-happy, very successful model/actress/philanthropist/event planner that is the bane of Bell's character's existence.

According to her online bio, Ms. Jamil is a multi-hyphenate herself.  She's listed as actress/writer/DJ/model/radio host.  She's also a former English teacher.

She's an achiever.

The Good Place is Ms. Jamil's first credited acting role so we're going to make her selection one of our famous "buy earlies."

I'd add "buy often" as well.  We're going to be seeing more of her.

Let's hit the links.
