One of the first truly exciting rock releases of 2014 is almost here. Swedish power trio Truckfighters will release its fourth studio LP ‘Universe’ in North America Feb. 4 via Fuzzorama Records. The Swedish band, who Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has called "not just the best band I'd ever heard, but the best band that ever existed" and who has created some of the best stoner rock records of the last decade, describes the new album as simply "the ultimate fuzz."
Truckfighters held a successful Pledge Music campaign late last year offering personalized copies of ‘Universe,’ as well as a wide variety of limited-edition additional items and opportunities to visit with the band, in an effort to recoup recording costs. ‘Universe’ will be commercially released as a digipack CD (including limited first-edition goodies), vinyl (double-record gatefold 10-in. and colored 12-in.), and for download.
Tracklisting:

The band resurrects the spirit of the decibel-heavy 1970's. Formed in 2001, Truckfighters -- Oskar "Ozo" Cedermalm (vocals/bass), Niklas "Dango" Källgren (guitar) and Andre "Poncho" Kvarnström (drums) -- is an absolute force in the live setting. Since 2011, Truckfighters have completed three full US tours.
When the trailer for the recent "fuzzomentary" about the band, titled "Truckfighters" hit the internet, the band found an instant buzz. The film included cameo appearances and quotes from influential musicians such as Homme, Nick Oliveri and Alfredo Hernandez (Kyuss, Yawning Man) and bands like Fu Manchu, Valient Thorr, Witchcraft, and Graveyard..
Truckfighers will tour North America extensively this spring in support of ‘Universe.’ The band is also planning an appearance at the 2014 South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival in Austin, Tex., this March.
The band will be on the road in Europe before SXSW, starting tonight (Jan. 10) at AN Club in Athens, Greece, and working its way through the Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, and Belgium, before wrapping things up Mar. 8 at Camden Underworld, London, UK.
You can watch Truckfigthers’ video for ‘Prophet’ below. It was directed by Jorg Steineck who also did the ‘fuzzomentary.’
